Hello and welcome aboard Project Liberty Ship, CFC Number 62656. We are a Baltimore-based non-profit organization whose purpose is to educate the public about the history and sacrifices of the U.S. Merchant Marine and the U.S. Navy Armed Guard during our nation’s wars as well as to honor the shipbuilders who built the greatest fleet of ships the world has ever seen that helped win World War 2. We have a crew of diverse volunteers of all ages dedicated to the preservation of the restored cargo ship, the S.S. John W. Brown, launched in 1942 from the Baltimore shipyards. It is one of only two remaining operational Liberty Ships in the world out of 2,710 built. In addition to working with Chesapeake Bay area schools with our STEM program, we team with local First Responders who use our ship as a training platform, conduct living history cruises in the Chesapeake Bay, and foster community outreach through school visits and support of Scouting and Sea Cadet programs. Your generous donation will help us continue operating the ship and supporting the Chesapeake Bay area community.
